You walk into the dentist's office with throbbing pain in one of your teeth. You are anxious about what other pain you might endure during the course of your visit. Your mind starts to wander with thoughts of drilling, shots, and cavities. All of a sudden, you see it - the receptionist flashes you a warm, welcoming smile and instantly you realize that you're exaggerating - everything's going to be all right.

Dental receptionists are the first line of reassurance for patients who have anxiety about visiting the dentist. Not only do dental receptionists greet and process patients, they also have additional responsibilities:
  • Maintain Patient Records
  • Schedule Appointments
  • Process Billing and Payments
  • Monitor and Order Supplies
  • Coordinate Mail - In and Out of the Office

Get Dental Receptionist Training

In the past, when walking into a dentist's office, you would see piles of folders sprawled all over the floor, lining bookshelves, and pouring out of cabinets. Fortunately, times have changed; offices are utilizing technology to cut down on paperwork and make operations more efficient.

What does this mean for you?

It means that in the course of your job as a dental receptionist, you will be faced with different challenges, requiring more up-to-date dental receptionist training.

When choosing a dental receptionist course, select one that provides you with sound training in technology and teaches you a strong base of organizational skills. Most dental receptionists must be good at dealing with people, phones, fax machines, and computers - sometimes all at the same time. As a result, you should choose a course that provides you plenty of practical training.

Once you've gotten the right training, you'll be ready to be successful on the front lines, ensuring everyone has a pleasant and stress free trip to the dentist's office.
