Beefing Up Your Fitness Career

Perhaps Sal didn't save my life, but I'm confident in saying that he extended it. Two years ago I was so heavy that it was an effort getting in and out of my Miata. Desperate after diets had failed me, I joined a local gym and began working out. Sal was wandering the aisles of cardio bikes when he stopped and gave me a tip.

Find Personal Success with a Personal Trainer

It's common for personal trainers to offer advice in hopes of recruiting clientele. But when Sal took out his client book and showed me the "before and after" pictures of his success stories, I was hooked. One "before" woman weighed 300 pounds and posed in her "after" photo at a svelte 117.

Today, Sal is known as the "transformer." He moved out of the national fitness chain where he worked when I met him and now has his own training gym, serving NBA cheerleaders, competitive body builders, and professional dancers. His own success story reads like a fitness trainer's dream -- a realistic, practical dream. Sal started like many new personal trainers, working the floor, drumming up clients, and building his reputation.

Rounding Out Your Training Career

But Sal has also become a success by continuing his own personal education after his initial certification. In various programs, he learned about safe weight loss rates, the compiling of sound eating plans, the use of supplements, and establishing realistic training goals without the risk of injury.

There are advanced trainer preparation programs with classes in flexibility training, exercise programming for all age groups, body composition testing, kinesiology, exercise for injury rehabilitation, advanced form in strength training, and more. Your ultimate career progress can depend upon how broad your training is -- not how specialized.

By the way, Sal took me from 30+ percent body fat to 15 percent in three months. Thanks, Sal.
