Create Happy Feet With Massage Therapy

Did you know that every day your feet carry you some 10,000 steps and bear a burden equal to several hundred tons of impact? Most people take their feet for granted, especially when it comes to health priorities. If you're interested in a flexible career that makes everyone happy to see you, consider working in reflexology and massage therapy.

Massage Therapy--Take A Load Off

According to the American Podiatric Medical Association, most people wait until they're in terrible pain before seeking medical attention for foot problems (35 percent, shockingly, don't do anything at all). And 70 to 80 percent of women still insist on wearing uncomfortable shoes. In fact, until a major problem arises (such as "I can't walk!"), foot care seems to be completely ignored.

Fight Back With Reflexology

The foot is made up of 26 bones, 33 joints, and 100-plus tendons, muscles, and ligaments. Reflexology, originally introduced by ancient Egyptians, uses pressure points in the foot to cure ailments all over the body, including headaches, stomach ulcers, back pain, and PMS. And if you're not convinced that reflexology really works, consider the fact that quality massage therapy, performed on your feet, can offer benefits beyond relaxation. With thousands of sensory receptors covering your feet, happy feet can translate to a happy soul.

Secrets To Happy Feet

If you have aching dogs of your own, there are a few things you can do to relieve the pain. First, consider adding supportive insoles to your shoes. Secondly, soak your feet in cold water to reduce swelling. And finally, visit a massage therapist and get some true TLC for your feet. A skilled massage therapist will not only make your feet happy once again, but they can also offer massage therapy exercises and tips to strengthen, stretch, and rebuild your body's foundation--your feet!
