Help people. Make money. Do it from home. What could be better?
Train for one of today's hottest careers while receiving individual attention at Antonelli College. Gain the skills employers demand from expert instructors.
With a medical transcription job, you can work in a wide variety of settings, including your own home helping transcribe reports dictated by doctors, so medical professionals can create and update their permanent records.
The field is evolving, which makes it much easier to work from home. Before, doctors recorded their notes and evaluations on mini-tape recorders; now physicians use Digital Dictation, which allows them to save files digitally. What does this mean for you? Now, instead of having to live near a hospital or clinic so you could go pick up tape recordings, you can just receive the files over the internet and work virtually anywhere.
What Kind of Medical Transcription Jobs are out there?
Not only is there flexibility in where you work, but also in what field you choose.
You could do transcription for any of the following medical purposes:
- Patient History
- Physical Examinations
- Consultations
- Hospital Visits
- Radiography Reports
Medical Transcription Training
Employers strongly prefer to hire people with formalized medical transcription training. The good news is that just like medical transcription jobs, you can work from home to get your degree by enrolling in an on-line program. Most programs are either two-year associate degree programs or one-year certificate programs.
No matter which type of program you choose, you should make sure that you get a strong base in medical terminology and anatomy. Additionally, choose a course that offers a technology component, so you can get used to transcribing files and formatting reports.
The great thing about training and a career in medical transcription is it can all be done at home, on your own time. Who knew that making a difference could be so easy?
