Registered nurses make up the largest workforce in healthcare, and it's no wonder. With American women waiting longer to have children and sometimes struggling with obesity, RNs are especially needed to care for new mothers.
The Pregnancy Challenge
Let's face it, pregnancy can be hard--not to mention labor. Women want as painless a labor process as possible. Maybe that's why C-sections now account for nearly 30% of births in the US (an increase of 40% since 1996). The US Department of Health and Human Services set a goal of at least half this amount for 2010. So what can make pregnancy easier?
Resources for New Mothers
Registered nurses hold a variety of positions in hospitals, including assisting new mothers with childbirth. The market for registered nurses is growing and clinics are in need of meeting the increasing demands of their patient bases.
How to Become a Registered Nurse
There are hundreds of training programs available to help you become a registered nurse. You can find information online about how to become a registered nurse. In a registered nurse program, courses will focus on biology, anatomy, patient care, and healthcare management.
Some registered nurse programs take as little as two years to complete. After learning how to become a registered nurse, you will be eligible for the largest job market in healthcare. Maybe you can even bring some babies into the world!
