The Weight Loss Industry Gets Bigger

If you've tried all the weight loss gimmicks but still can't seem to shed those unwanted pounds, it may be time to call a healthcare professional. But do you know who they are and what they can do? Read on to learn more.

Diet Doctor

A diet doctor, also known as a bariatric physician, is an M.D. certified by the American Board of Bariatric Medicine. They are trained to spot medical causes of weight gain, such as hormonal deficiencies, glucose levels, etc. If you're overweight, enough that your waist is larger than your chest, this healthcare professional might be the one for you.

Registered Dietician

A registered dietician holds a bachelor's degree in nutrition or science and has passed a national certifying exam. They can help with weight loss if you're confused about what type of eating plan to follow. By tailoring a menu to fit your specific weight loss needs, an RD can help you change your lifestyle and eating habits.

Weight Loss Psychologist

A weight loss psychologist holds a PhD in clinical psychology and specializes in eating disorders and weight control. Talking with this healthcare professional can help you discover the root of your food and weight loss issues (boredom, depression, stress, temper, etc.) and help you get back to an active, engertic, and positive lifestyle.

Weight Loss Coach

The best weight loss coaches are certified by the International Coaching Federation, which require at least 125 hours of training. This healthcare professional might be the one for you if you need a kick in the pants to put down the chips, get off the sofa, and hit the gym. Besides developing a weight loss routine, they can also help you organize your daily schedule to make exercise a priority.

So if you need a hand with your weight loss efforts, but don't know where to turn, try one of these healthcare professionals--and if they help you out, maybe you'll be ready to pay it forward and become a nutrition professional yourself!
